Frequently Asked Questions
We know you’ll have questions, so that’s why we’ve done our best to answer the most common ones here.
Will we all need criminal record checks to do this?
No, there’s no need for any extra checks for your team. The school is responsible for the student work experience set up and we will support you with completing this prior to the week.
What paperwork will we need to do?
Our goal is to make the process as simple as possible. Each school has a system in place to complete for the student’s work experience for their safeguarding, health and safety which is simple to complete.
We're very busy, how much time will this take?
We know that life can be busy at work therefore we’ve designed this programme to be minimal time commitment, maximum impact. You’ll need to allocate someone to liaise with Nicola before the work experience week and then have your team ready to make time in the week of the programme to be there for the students.
We want to make this unique to us, can we customise it?
Absolutely. The curriculum is a starting point. Tailor it to align uniquely with your firm's approach. It's about shaping futures with a personalised touch.
I understand the membership, but what other costs are involved?
As these students are from low income backgrounds, we ask members to cover the cost of their expenses while their with you, such as travel and food for the week as well as any social events that you organise during their week too.
I really want to help! How many work experience students we can take?
In previous years companies have taken either 4, 6 or 8 students for the week. It works well for students to have a group and friends to work with during the week for support. We can discuss options with you and the school so it works for you and your team.
We are a school who are interested who can we speak to?
Please get in touch with Nicola directly nicola@gatewayproject.co.uk and you can talk about if there is a company who can take on your students for work experience. There is no cost to the school or students to be involved.
